Hear New Sound: LCD Soundsystem's "Live Alone" (Franz Ferdinand Cover)

It's going to be an exciting and eventful weekend for music (more on that soon...) with Record Store Day being one of the highlights. AwkwardSound has already given you a taste of one of the day's exclusive offerings in Fucked Up's fictional UK band companion piece LP, and now you can hear Franz Ferdinand's contribution to the vinyl celebration. Except it's not quite Franz Ferdinand. The posh post-punk Scotsman will be releasing Covers, a 5-song EP which features the likes of Debbie Harry, Stephin Merritt, Peaches, ESG and the recently deceased LCD Soundsystem putting their own spin on Franz tracks off their 2009 album, Tonight. If there's anything we've learned from "New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down", it's that James Murphy is an accidental crooner, so it's no surprise his vocal likeness comes off sounding relatively close to Alex Kapranos. In case you don't remember, Franz Ferdinand took on LCD's "All My Friends" back in 2008, so it's nice to hear Murphy return the favor. Take it away, James...
