Hear New Sound: Black Lips' "New Direction"

To date, early samplings of Black Lips' upcoming sixth LP, Arabia Mountain, haven't strayed too far from the flower punkers' atypical rowdy lo-fi rock sound. However, the latest cut to trickle out, "New Direction," is just that. The fruits of labor stemming from the Atlanta-based quartet's oddball pairing with Brit pop producer, Mark Ronson, are fully audible as "New Direction" pulls influence from rock 'n roll's British Invasion era. While the sound is a throwback to Herman's Hermits and Dave Clark Five, somethings tells AwkwardSound we shouldn't expect to be seeing Black Lips donning bowl cuts and slick matching suits anytime soon...
