LIVESound: Disappears' Daytrotter Session

The Ilinois-based live studio session web series, Daytrotter, continued to shed some light on the darker side of the music scene this past week with a visit from homegrown Chicago experimental rock supergroup, Disappears. The noisemaking collective are having a great 2011 thanks to in part to the addition of Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley on drums, an acclaimed set at this year's Lollapalooza and generally refining the ideas brought forth on their 2010 debut, Lux with their deservingly recommended razor-sharp sophomore effort, Guider and the tour / Plustapes cassette-exclusive EP, Live at Echo Canyon (which, FYI, isn't really all that much of a live-in-front-of-an-audience experience as it is a live studio recording.) What's most interesting about their set for Daytrotter is Disappears' ability to explore the boundaries of space and woozy sonics in what AS gathers is a confined, shack-like studio area in Rock Island, Illinois. Below, you can listen to the live take of Lux track, "Superstition" and "Not Romantic" off Guider. If you visit Daytrotter's Disappears page, you can download the the session in its entirety.
