LIVESound: Zola Jesus' Daytrotter Session

Here at AwkwardSound, summer has kind of worn out it's welcome and so now it's time to get into the mindset of cooler weather and less sunlight in the days ahead of us. The folks behind Daytrotter must be on the same page as AS, as it seems like they've been on a goth-pop kick as of late fitting for the upcoming autumnal season. Just last week, the web-based live studio session makers brought us an appearance by Cali coldwave quartet, Abe Vigoda, and now the latest installment features gothic chanteuse (and AwkwardSound's Best New Artist of 2010,) Nika Danilova a.k.a. Zola Jesus. The session features "Avalanche," a climbing new track that is set to appear on Zola Jesus' third LP, Conatus, due out in October, and "Trust Me," the beautifully somber ballad culled from last year's Stridulum EP. These Daytrotters are getting darker with every minute that summer comes closer to an end...
