Hear New Sound: Yuck's "Soothe Me"

One of AwkwardSound's earliest tipped and favorite new bands of the year, Yuck, delivered early on with a highly recommended debut album that is packed with some of 2011's most ear-popping singles. To cap off the successful first run, they'll be punctuating their breakthrough with a deluxe reissue of that same self-titled effort through Fat Possum on October 11th. Among the incentives to pick this one up of you already own a copy are the inclusion of five B-sides (like "Milkshake") and the unreleased new track, "Soothe Me." Comparisons to '90s fuzz rock mainstays such as Dinosaur Jr., Galaxie 500 and Teenage Fanclub have followed the young UK quartet since they arrived on the scene, but there's a high-arched Neil Young-esque warble in frontman Daniel Blumberg's voice during the strummy track's chorus that hints back to a different era of noisy nostalgia. The satisfying softness awaits...
