Hear New Sound: Chairlift's "Sidewalk Safari"

Brooklyn synth-pop duo Chairlift will be returning in early 2012 with their sophomore effort, Something. Judging from first impression "Amanaemonesia" and this latest offering, "Sidewalk Safari," it may very well be the album that meets hyped expectations which peaked in '08 after the Williamsburg scene "broke." Chairlift have been fortunate to receive a healthy amount of good press from NYC-based tastemakers all while soundtracking iPod campaigns and signing to Columbia Records, but AS felt their debut, Does You Inspire You had its moments more so than being a consistent breakthrough (See: "Evident Utensil".) For that, Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly's music requires some further analysis. These songs off LP 2 so far steer away from simplistic twee melodies as Chairlift reanimate their sound with layers of acidic synths and tangible yet organic pop hooks -- All promising signs. Take a walk through their urban adventure below...
