Hear New Sound: Cheap Girls' "Ruby"

Cheap Girls is a band who've already made a name for themselves in the .org-core scene, having put out two full-length LPs, a few splits and tours with the likes of other fresh-faced punks Joyce Manor, Lemuria and Bomb the Music Industry! Unlike their past tourmates however, it's a stretch to say that the Lansing, MI trio's musical style is all that similar considering how heavily it's inspired by venerable '90s alternative such as The Replacements, Sugar and Smoking Popes. Perhaps in 2012, a much wider audience will realize this when Cheap Girls releases their third LP (and first for Rise Records) Giant Orange. Giving the effort an additional layer of interest is production from Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel who recorded all of the band's material in Florida at his brand new Total Treble Studio. If first impressions say anything, first listen "Ruby" shows that Cheap Girls certainly have honed down on nostalgic '90s guitar rock to a tee with Gabel's assist. Hear the team shine below...
