LIVESound: The Big Pink Cover Smashing Pumpkins' "Mayonaise"

You could argue that the most influential styles to permeate the alternative rock landscape during the 1990s were sophisticated Brit-pop à la Blur, The Verve and Oasis and the distortion-heavy antithesis heard in grunge rock. The Big Pink on the other hand are a band whose influences fall somewhere in between the two, and they've managed to exhibit exactly how you marry the contrasts during a new session at BBC's Radio 1 Zane Lowe show. There, they covered Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream-era hit, "Mayonaise," a track that the UK act has made a habit of performing during recent live outings. Given the classic SP album has been reissued in a sleek deluxe package and The Big Pink are set to release a hotly anticipated sophomore effort, this cover does each act a service in promoting their best qualities. Lay it on thick below...
