Hear New Sound: Frankie Rose's "Know Me"

Is 2012 the year of the girl group member makeover? Early signs point to yes. We've already heard Vivian Girl Cassie Ramone's other project, The Babies shed their roughed up garage rock edges in exchange for dreamy folk pop on their latest single. Now Frankie Rose, a former Vivian Girl herself (alongside an alumni of Dum Dum Girls and Crystal Stilts) is joining the fray with the release of a new full-length, Interstellar due out January 17th on shoegaze stalwart label, Slumberland Records. One thing that's changed however on Rose's latest effort is that it forgoes an assist from the Outs (with whom she recorded her first Slumberland release) and there's a good reason why. On Interstellar, Rose has decided to fly solo, reinventing her style through grander pop gestures influenced by '80s new wave and heavenly reverb melodies. "Know Me" is our first encounter with the brand new Frankie, and from the sound of her swirly first single, this girl has gives you enough reason as to why you should do just that...
