Hear New Sound: The Babies' "My Name" / "The War"

Saturday, April 21st marks the annual international celebration known as Record Store Day, and the occasion often tends to unearth some limited runs of old gems from participating bands' back catalogs. NYC garage pop duo The Babies (featuring Vivian Girls' Cassie Ramone and Woods' Kevin Morby) are the latest band to add their contribution to the vinyl enthusiast event by teaming up with UK label upstart Bad Paintings for the release of a new-old 7" single. The A-side features the intro-to-The Babies track "My Name" alongside B-side "The War," two live favorites initially written and recorded when the two Brooklyn musicians began working together back in '09 that -- outside from a rare tour cassette -- have never seen a widespread release. The songs may not represent the The Babies' current direction, but at least appease the curiosity of anyone interested in the The Babies' early roots before the release of their sophomore effort due out later this year. Stream some "vintage" Babies before you can give them a spin on a turntable below...
