Sound Bites: Dirty Projectors, Lotus Plaza and A Place to Bury Strangers

Dirty Projectors' "Gun Has No Trigger"
Brooklyn-based experimental pop ensemble Dirty Projectors have officially detailed their highly anticipated follow-up to 2009's critically acclaimed Bitte Orca. Swing Lo Megellan arrives on July 10th via Domino Records and according to project mastermind Dave Longstreth, will be “an album of songs, an album of songwriting.” Conspicuous by her absence this time will be ever-so-popular beaut vocalist Angel Deradoorian who is on a "hiatus" from the band. Listen to the LP's smooth, dark gospel-like single "Gun Has No Trigger" below.

Lotus Plaza's "Monoliths"
Recent BUZZSound Lotus Plaza (a.k.a. the solo project of Deerhunter guitarist Locket Pundt) releases his likely-breakthrough sophomore effort Spooky Action at a Distance tomorrow on Kranky Records. "Monoliths" is another guitar-layered dreamy number that the Georgian musician and his label have conveniently offered up in advance if you still need further convincing as to why you should give this LP a listen.

A Place to Bury Strangers' "You Are the One"
Static-drive NYC shoegaze trio A Place to Bury Strangers are set to release their third LP Worship on June 26th via new home label Dead Oceans. "You Are the One" is the LP's first listen, one that's slightly more subtle in the vocals department but still leans heavily on the APTBS' fast velocity and penchant for bleeding into the red. Their European tour kicks off later this week.
