LIVESound: Sceaming Females Cover Sheryl Crow's "If It Makes You Happy" for A.V. Undercover

Another season of The A.V. Club's popular online cover series A.V. Undercover is underway, and just like last year, let's all prepare ourselves for some wildly original takes on guilty pleasures by some of AS' favorite bands. Indie punk trio Screaming Females for example are currently on a hot streak following the release of their Recommended Listen new album Ugly, and given their strong DIY convictions, they may not strike listeners as a band willing to embrace a glaring mainstream influence. As fate would have it, the New Jersey road warriors have been belting out Sheryl Crow's 1996 mom-rock anthem "If It Makes You Happy" on recent tour stops and offered to bring down the walls of A.V Undercover's Chicago studio with it. Turns out Marissa Paternoster's bleating wail aligns perfectly with the voice of Lilith Fairs' past. It can't be that bad...
