Hear New Sound: The Vaccines' "No Hope"

Hype band import the Vaccines may have gotten off on the wrong foot around these parts, but at the end of 2011 when AS went back and gave listen to some albums it didn't have a chance to indulge in over the year, their debut album What Did You Expect From the Vaccines? was a rather decent surprise, considering the current state of Brit-pop as a whole these days is seriously lacking in character. The West London indie rock quartet are back again with a better chance at making an open-minded impression this time around on their sophomore effort The Vaccines Come of Age, arriving September 4th on Columbia Records. "No Hope" is the LP's first single, taking in stride jangly electric guitar-driven melodies that have come to define the UK's more admirable next gen of rockers such as Arctic Monkeys and the Cribs, alongside an underlying dark pessimism that may or may not have something to do with the fact that Vaccines guitarist Freddie Cowan is the sibling of a Horror. There's "...Hope" after all for these kids...
