LIVESound: The Gaslight Anthem Play Live on Letterman

One of the most anticipated releases this summer here on AwkwardSound's end comes from Jersey rockers the Gaslight Anthem, whose third effort and major label debut Handwritten arrives July 24th on Mercury. Building a full head of steam toward that date, the blue collar punk quartet made a return to the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC for an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. There, they performed their fiery new single "45" for the TV screen, but then stuck around after the taping for a whole different audience made up of loyal listeners who waited in a long-ass line to get in and people who were smart enough to stay home and watch it on the Internet for an hour-long live webcast set filled with favorites spanning their entire catalog alongside the debut of the new track "Here Comes My Man" (not to be confused as a Pixies cover) and the encore, "Baba O'Riley" (definitely the Who cover.) Brian Fallon's excellently awkward and humorous stage banter also showed that if this album flops, there's always a career in stand-up waiting for him. Watch the Gaslight Anthem heat up the Ed Sullivan Theater below...
