Hear New Sound: The Afghan Whigs' "Lovecrimes" (Frank Ocean Cover)

It's a toss up between Mark Kozelek and Greg Dulli in terms of who pulls it off best, but if either musician decides to try their hand covering your song, you can guarantee either will do a phenomenal job at making it their own and almost better. Over the past few years, we've heard Dullo do just this by himself and with the Twilight Singers, but now that he and his original pack of dark souled alt-rockers the Afghan Whigs are back on the road together for an ongoing reunion tour, they're putting the practice to use during their live shows by covering Frank Ocean's Nostalgia, Ultra cut "Lovecrimes." On the heels of Ocean's mega-successful release of Channel Orange last week, it only makes sense that the Cinci trio would release a studio version of their cover. Below, hear them squeeze its heartbeat down to a slow and wrenching pace and thus, twisting "Lovecrimes"' pains into Dulli and company's dark likeness...
