LIVESound: Ceremony Cover the Violent Femmes' "Kiss Off" for A.V. Undercover

As we've become familiar with over the past year, Ceremony have a thing for playing other peoples' songs, which makes their appearance on the latest installment of the A.V. Club's A.V. Undercover series right up their piss-stained alley. This one shows off quite a different side of the quintet however, as for their contribution, the Bay Area hardcore punks takes on the not-so-hardcore 1983 alternative classic "Kiss Off" by the Violent Femmes. Having heard them do the Pixies and L7 in the past, that's not so unusual. The surprise unfolds during the performance, really, as Ross Farrar's gravely throating backed by a head rush of rough riffs is instead replaced by the frontman channeling his inner sexually frustrated dweeb as the rest of the hardcore crew carries on in a semi-electric way.
