Sound Bites: How to Dress Well, JoJo and Propagandhi

How to Dress Well's "Cold Nites"

Deep-sinking lo-fi R&B-pop contortionist How to Dress Well returns with his anticipated sophomore LP Total Loss on September 18th through Ac├ęphale Records. A few months back, project mastermind Tim Krell treated listeners to an early preview with the phenomenally beautiful track "Ocean Floor for Everything." "Cold Nites" is Total Loss' latest listen, a soft-keyed number that tip-toes effervescently around Krell's faint vocals.

JoJo's "Demonstrate"

JoJo may not have amassed as many hit singles as her pop peers, but at the young age of 21, maybe the singer is just getting started -- and getting wiser at that. Foxboro's finest has done the smart thing by aligning herself with frequent Drake producer Noah "40" Shabib on the track "Demonstrate" for her forthcoming album Jumping Trains, which is due out on Blackground later this year. It's a slow, toe-curling sex jam that'll certainly have listeners talking about just how much JoJo has grown up. A hat tip from October's Very Own himself can't hurt either.

Propagandhi's "Failed States"

Veteran Winnipeg political punks Propagandhi have signed to Epitpah and announced plans to release a brand new album this fall. Failed States is their sixth studio effort and it'll arrive on September 4th. Today, they offered up the LP's first listen, the title track which sees the metal-leaning hardcore quartet continuing to bite their way toward giant-sized riffs. The band will also be hitting the road in September starting in Canada and later embarking alongside the east coast here in the States in October with fellow hardcore countrymen Comeback Kid.
