Hear New Sound: Converge's "Shame In the Way"

Unless Trash Talk have something to say about it, Converge's forthcoming LP All We Love We Leave Behind (due out October 9th on Epitaph and Deathwish Records) will likely sit atop many year-end lists as the best hardcore album of 2012. As was hinted in the album's initial high-flying preview "Aimless Arrow," the veteran Boston thrashers have yet to cease evolving and reshaping the genre without losing a sense of urgency, aggression or identity. Frontman Jacob Bannon spoke with Pitchfork about the writing process that went into making album #8 (its title stemming from the death of his beloved dog and the concepts of time and self-awareness appearing as themes elsewhere.) It should also be noted that guitarist Kurt Ballou produced this effort, and unlike previous material, All We Love... boasts no guests or outside influences. "Shame In the Way" is the latest short-wicked rumbler off LP #8, and continues to convey Converge at a new peak rawness and cohesiveness, operating like one well-oiled hardcore-making machine. Hear how nothing stands in front of these dudes' way below...
