Hear New Sound: Ducktails' "The Flower Lane"

Now that Real Estate has wound down their support of last year's excellent sophomore follow-up, Days, guitarist Matt Mondanile's time has been freed up to focus on his other lo-fi pop project, Ducktails. A lot has happened since Mondanile's bedroom-based side-piece reinforced the idea of an endless summer (despite it arriving in the thick of winter) with his last effort, Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics, however. Specifically, the one-man-band has become a proper one by entering the studio and fleshing out its murky sound thanks to BUZZSound alumni and fellow Jersey indie rockers Big Troubles have aligned themselves with team Mondanile. Ducktails 2.0 will release their first collective effort and Domino debut The Flower Lane on January 29th. The LP will also boast guest spots from Oneohtrix Point Never's Daniel Lopatin, his Ford & Lopatin collaborator Joel Ford and Cults' Madeline Follin, among others. Even though we're months away from its release, Ducktails is sharing the title track, a breezy gem of soft pop rock that's more straight-forward than anything Mondanile's done under the pseudonym, yet remains true to his choice climate. Travel down "The Flower Lane" below...
