Hear New Sound: Titus Andronicus' "Still Life with Hot Deuce and Silver Platter"

Jersey punk evolutionists Titus Andronicus will be releasing their latest effort, Local Business in just under two short weeks on October 23rd via XL Recordings. All you lil' file swapping pirates know this one has already sprung a leak however, and hopefully realize LP 3 is another great work from Patrick Stickles and his revolving cast of co-workers. There's also the people out there crying about how it isn't The Monitor, and well -- It just isn't. And it's not supposed to be. Actually, as excellent as The Monitor was, it'd be a huge letdown if Titus Andronicus just put out an album that sounded just like the previous one because it would show no willingness to take a risk, and that's kind of their shtick. Early listen "Upon Viewing Oregon's Landscape With the Flood of Detritus" and the first official single "In a Big City" should have given you the hint, as both saw the beardy New Brunswick rockers exiting theatrical narratives and heading into the bar to kick back a few cold ones with some rowdy pals. "Still Life with Hot Deuce and Silver Platter" is further proof of Titus Andronicus finding comfort in their new skin with less growl, rickety riffs, punchier choruses and a bit of the E Street shuffle. Thinking about how the tri-state area's punk scene has shifted toward this sound as of late with bands like the Men, Nude Beach and Stickles' besties, the So So Glos, the concept of a Local Business should really be hitting home with listeners if it hasn't already. "Still Life..." served up to you below...
