LIVESound: How to destroy angels_ Play "Keep it together"

It's taken them over two years just to get to this point, but How to destroy angels_ -- the newest musical endeavor from Trent Reznor, his wife / West Indian Girl Mariqueen Maandig and longtime collaborators Atticus Ross and Rob Sheriden -- is finally becoming a serious reality leading up to the release of their sophomore EP, An omen_, due out November 13th on Columbia. In early October, Reznor and company debuted the effort's initial listen and first new material since 2010's self-titled EP with the cinematic slow burner, "Keep it together." Today, we finally see all these moving parts working together as one well oiled electronic machine live for the first time, albeit in a studio session for the track. LED lights and monitors glowing off close-up shots of each member's face in a creepy dark environment alongside artsy camera angles leave a bit more to the imagination than your typical live video experience, but let's not forget that Reznor is an audio / visual perfectionist. This meticulous stylistic clarity could eventually result in a great sounding and looking show if Reznor ever puts his live performance hang-ups to bed and takes Htda_ out into the public. Until that, watching he and his cohorts look really sexy over soundboards and fiddling with nobs is the best we have to work with...
