Hear New Sound: Mr. Dream & Lizzy Plapinger's "Israel" (Siouxsie and the Banshees Cover)

Mr. Dream had a pretty sweet idea to get clad in black and throw on some mascara to cover Siouxsie and the Banshee classics at Death by Audio’s annual Halloween covers show, but unfortunately Superstorm Sandy had different plans for the shit-scraping rock trio, as their Siouxsie – a role that was to be filled by Lizzy Plapinger of fellow NYC act MS MR – was stranded elsewhere on the east coast. Not willing to let their fun be ruined altogether, Mr. Dream and Plapinger are saving Christmas instead with a Siouxsie-fied six-track EP appropriately entitled Siouxsie. It’ll be available as a very limited cassette to all the kids on their "nice" list who enter the doors at the Brooklyn band’s upcoming Christmas show on December 12th at the Glasslands Gallery. The real holiday miracle in all of this is how firm Mr. Dream and the electro-pop-leaning chanteuse were able to remain to the original throughout their take of "Israel," considering the indie rockers' natural affliction toward grungy guitar riffs and a jackhammered rhythm section. The lovely nightmare before Christmas below...
