Hear New Sound: Frank Ocean's "Pink Matter (Big Boi Remix)"

In what can only be described as a too-good-to-be-true start to the new year, fans of millennial pop superstars must be having one of the best weeks ever. This includes Justin Timberlake announcing that he'll finally be returning after a six year hiatus from the music world with a new album in tow, while Beyoncé will be getting back together for one night only with her former Destiny's Child divas at this year's Superbowl halftime show (toss in the new single "Nuclear" from the trio as well.) To cap it all of, there's this -- the (sorta) Outkast reunion hip-hop fans have been waiting for since 2006's Idlewild, all thanks to Frank Ocean, as Big Boi has remixed the Channel Orange cut "Pink Matter" by throwing in a few new verses of his own to precede his Outkast partner, André 3000's guest spot. Apparently, this is how the song was meant to happen in the first place, but 'dré was against the idea of having Outkast join up again after a lengthy time apart on someone else's record. Of course the remix leaves you wanting more of the duo's whip-quick rhyme wit, and luckily, it'll be happening again soon as Big Boi is set to remix another André 3000-featuring track in T.I.'s "Sorry."

  1. pretty sure that tweet is talking about Andre... as in Andre 3000... Dr. Dre has nothing to do with that album...

  2. Good catch, Rob!
