Hear New Sound: Cold Cave's "Oceans With No End"

Wes Eisold has always done right by AwkwardSound, but ever since reuniting himself with his past life last year as the aggressor fronting millennial hardcore act American Nightmare, his every move made since with his fashionable dark synth-wave project Cold Cave has benefited by his new found hunger for punk's urgent, physical energy. He's thus far assembled a new version of the band that reads like a supergroup of members from the scene's morbid heavyweight division (Cody Votolato, formerly of the Blood Brothers, AFI's Hunter Burgen, London May of Samhain and Tiger Army as well as the Melvin's Dave Stone,) and now he's returning to his adopted home at purveyors of all things brutal, Deathwish Inc. to release the new EP Oceans With No End, due out imminently. Its title track doesn't yet feature Eisold's newest co-workers, instead being recorded at home with just his guitar and his sequencers and MS20 synthesizer to a remarkably fully-blown distortion of goth-pop electricity. He also took to Twitter to dedicate its release to the untimely passing of friend and member of Cold Cave's initial Love Comes Close lineup, Justin Benoit. It's beautifully life-affirming and surging with spirit, which makes his sentiments even more genuinely expressive. Wade into "Oceans With No End" below...
