Hear New Sound: The Strokes' "All the Time"

It sounded like the Strokes were going for the element of surprise a few weeks back when they fired off their latest redux "One Way Trigger" with little warning or confirmation as to what it meant in the grand scheme, but we now know Julian Casablancas' falsetto makeover will be on the band's new album Comedown Machine, which comes out March 26th on RCA. Today, the kings of early Aughties alternative set forth its first official single "All the Time," which couldn't be any more satisfyingly unsurprising than LP 5's initial preview. Here, the fashion-conscious NYC quintet ditch much of the glam and neon that hasn't done much favors over their past two releases, and instead dust off tried-and-true hook-driven crank tailored for modern rock radio a few years before the millennium hit. Your guess is as good as mine as to where The Strokes are taking listeners on Comedown Machine, but perhaps its worth reading between the lines of the album title after you give "All the Time" your time, below...
