Hear New Sound: Parquet Courts' "Smart Aleck Kid"

Brooklyn post-punkers and BUZZSound reps Parquet Courts made a solid statement as to why they’re one of the best new acts on the indie rock circuit today when their debut Light Up Gold became a late-blooming favorite here on AS’ 25 Best Albums list. Originally released on their own label Dull Tools last summer, the album saw its re-release this past January to a wider span of ears on What’s Your Rupture?, giving the quartet a highly deserved opportunity to capitalize on the acclaim with a growing audience. Next week, they –- like most other hyped-about acts across the globe –- will be heading down to Austin, TX for this year’s annual music industry and Tex-Mex feeding frenzy known as SXSW, and understandably, they’re offering listeners new and old something new to devour with “Smart Aleck Kid,” the B-side to their forthcoming "Borrowed Time" 7" single, due out March 18th. Clocking in at just over a minute in length, it's a flurry of angular angst fit for turning heads in their favor at any press baiting showcase. Give listen to the latest lesson in Parquet Courts 101 below...
