Thurston Moore's newest endeavor Chelsea Light Moving will be releasing their self-titled debut album next Tuesday on Matador, and the Sonic Youth founder has been doing a pretty interesting job at drumming up interest in his new project before setting out on a month-long tour tomorrow. A few weeks ago, he made an awesome guest appearance on BrooklynVegan's chronically hot-headed comment section to let it be known that Chelsea Light Moving was preparing to "detonate any birthday party, wedding or hullabaloo in any country, planet or stratosphere that doesn’t support right wing extremist NRA sucking bozo-ology." Okay! So last weekend, right in AwkwardSound's backyard of Haydenville (which is a village that runs tangent to Thurston's adopted home of Northampton,) he and his Chelsea Light Moving cohorts fulfilled that promise by playing the birthday party of one Trevor Healy, owner of Easthampton-based guitar shop Healey Guitars. Below are three hi-fi clips taken from the scene of the celebration courtesy of Matador pressman Nils Bernstein featuring the tracks "Empires of Time," "Alighted" and "Lip." Synth-psych pop craftsman and fellow 413'r DOM was also there in attendance (he's supposedly mixing his new material in that same exact basement -- tweet since deleted,) and after taking these clips in, you'll understand why a neighbor threatened to call the cops on Moore and friends. Party hard below...
