Hear New Sound: Speedy Ortiz's "Ka-Prow!"

BUZZSound alumni Speedy Ortiz will be releasing their debut album at some point this year, but in the meantime, they’re doing a bit of a double-take on their early days with a new-ish 7” single set to be released on April 30th via Inflated Records. It features re-recordings of the first two songs the band ever penned together back in 2011 (originally appearing on their Cop Kicker EP,) with “Ka-Prow!” on the A-side and “Hexxy” on the other. This time around, they brought in the Massachusetts indie scene’s go-to guy for production credits, Justin Pizzoferrato (Dinosaur Jr., California X,) who seems to be a proven expert at this point on all sounds loudly crackling with pop moments firmly stationed in place. “Ka-Prow!” also makes it obvious to anyone who’s been sleeping on this band for the past two years that the Northampton punk quartet has been fully formed from the start despite their humble beginning as the home tape recording solo project of frontwoman Sadie Dupuis. Her love of comic book culture transcends its way into Speedy Ortiz's music both titularly and sonically in this case. Get hit hard with Speedy Ortiz's second swing at "Ka-Prow!" below...
