Hear New Sound: Drake's "On My Way" (feat. James Fauntleroy)

A few months back, it seemed like Drake’s highly anticipated third album, Nothing Was the Same, was shaping up to be the odds on favorite to ruling this summer’s blockbuster rap game, but with recent developments including this week’s arrival of the almighty Yeezus and Jay-Z’s upcoming synergetic Independence Day release, Magna Carta Holy Grail, AwkwardSound can’t imagine that any hip-hop superstar would attempt to steal some of the spotlight away from the Watch the Throne kings. Drake’s freshly-announced gigantic 41-date tour planned for the autumn provides enough backing evidence that October’s Very Own will be holding the album off for another season, but in the meantime, the new track “On My Way” keeps us subtly baited for the time being. Prefix reports it's an older sex jam resurrected with the addition of “Girls Like BeyoncĂ©” guest James Fauntleroy on backing vocals, and given its slow-moving pillow talk juxtaposes the unconfirmed rifling first warning shot from LP 3 that was "5AM In Toronto," it may be best not to read too much into it.
