Hear New Sound: Psychic Blood's Nightmare Beaches EP

Noise-rock next gens Psychic Blood have been slashing through Western Mass’ DIY spaces since the release of last year’s Autumn Curses full-length, and in the time since, they -- like less caustic-sounding examples of the 413’s new breed, California X, Potty Mouth and Speedy Ortiz -- have marked out their own territory beyond Baystate lines, in their case by playing live alongside rising crud-shredding contemporaries NĂ¼ Sensae and Destruction Unit. This week, Psychic Blood released their new EP, Nightmare Beaches, available both as both a pay-what-you-want download on their BandCamp page or on cassette via Ascetic House when you stop by the merch booth of what's left in the Milk Music / Destruction Unit tour (a 12” release is also planned.) AwkwardSound has already brought to you its gnarled first preview in “Jagged Brain,” but now you can take in the entire five-track effort of hissing guitars and swirling feedback that provides a promising glimpse into the lineage of early Sonic Youth and Trail of Dead’s decibel demolition derbies. Tread Nightmare Beaches dangerous waves below…
