Hear New Sound: Superchunk's "FOH"

On August 20th, Chapel Hill DIY power punk staples Superchunk will release with their 10th full-length in the defiantly titled I Hate Music. It’s only their second studio effort since the Merge flagship band returned from a decade recording hiatus in 2010 with Majesty Shredding, and is touted as that LP’s “dark twin” in its themes of questioning the ultimate pursuit of love over all other life worries more than anything else. The band has made “FOH” (the acronymical shorthand for “front of house”) as its first preview, and for all the talk of darkness, Mac McCaughan and his gang stick to their signature formula of punchy power chord riffs and bratty angst to fill the glass half past full with catchy sing-a-long. Superchunk has also plotted a national tour in support of the new full-length, but it won't be kicking off until late August. Step forward to the front of house in the meantime...
