Cons:

Our lives would be so much easier if we were able to look at the unit and predict its quality. More often than not, our attitudes are influenced by our conceptions about the brands and names that seem to shine in every corner. We judge products by their manufacturer and let’s be honest, such an approach could be misleading. However, it does have its reasons. Many companies out there work really hard to earn the trust of their customers and that effort never goes up in smoke. We, guitarists, appreciate such dedication and choose their pedals over other options on the market.

Yeah, we might end up wasting our money but that’s how our psychology works. Plus, experimenting with different manufacturers is a risk and we aren’t always willing to take one. Different price ranges have different heroes and today we’re going to single out one of the most prominent brands in the affordable line. Donner has been renowned for its inexpensive products, most of which are more than decent. Their DB-2 – a sturdy and convenient pedalboard – isn’t an exception either. If you want to purchase a dupe of a pricier unit, but receive the same quality, then this is the right place for you. Stay with me till the end and I’ll list down all the necessary information. Let’s get started!

Donner Pedal Board Features

If you were a manufacturer and you had to design a pedalboard, what would you do? There’s only so much you can do with this puppy – its concept limits you so much that in the end, you choose to take a beaten track and follow traditional ways. That’s what Donner did when they decided to create a cheaper version of a more expensive model. You can see some apparent similarities in design, but when we pay so little, we can’t even complain about resemblances, can we? Plus, this fella has certain features it can easily brag about, so let’s just concentrate on the positive properties. First and foremost, DB-2 is built with aluminum alloy, which is extremely durable. The chances are it won’t break apart even if you wanted it to, so I guess you’re stuck with this one for good. Even though you don’t pay that much, it’s still an investment and it’s a wonderful thing that it’s worth it.

What’s more, this bad boy features a three-rail design. Though it’s one of the most common types of pedalboards, it’s the one that works flawlessly. Of course it does have its drawbacks, but, in general, you can’t go wrong with rails. This particular unit measures 20 x 8 x 1.2 inches, meaning that you can anchor up to 12 pedals on its surface. Of course, this number will vary depending on the size of your stompboxes and the space you leave between each unit. Those who don’t like overcrowded boards could easily mount three-four devices and be done with it. It’s up to your preferences, darling! DB-2 mightn’t be a perfect match for taller adapters, since it doesn’t have enough space underneath its body. However, if you go for thinner power supplies or simply place it on the surface, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Let’s not forget that this buddy comes with a soft gig bag, that turns its transportation into an easy task. It’s built with strong canvas that will transport your stuff daily and still remain in perfect shape. If you own higher pedals, it mightn’t be big enough to fit everything in, but it still does its job decently. It has a pocket that will store all those necessities securely. Apart from the bag itself, DB-2 does also come with 40” hoop-and-loop, so that you can Velcro your favorite pedals with ease. I’d recommend keeping a spare one on hand, since the included amount mightn’t be enough – especially if you’re planning to mount all 12 stompboxes. It goes without saying that the drawbacks of DB-2 are way more insignificant than all the advantages it has.

Conclusion

All in all, Donner did a fantastic job at creating durable, straightforward and lightweight pedalboards. Their DB-2 is something you’ll definitely miss if you decide to go back to the state of disorder and throw your pedals everywhere. This is sort of a unit that doesn’t require too much contemplation – if it satisfies your needs, go for it! At this price point, you don’t really have anything to lose. If you try this one out, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with its features. Good luck!
