There has never been a better time in the history of music to be on the market for a beginner instrument. Manufacturers seem to burp out dozens and dozens of new models that fit any and every requirement and whim. More importantly, if you are on the market for a bundle deal at a good price… well, let me just tell you, the only thing that will be hard is choosing out of hundreds of options. One of those options is the Enya KUTMA Tenor Mahogany Ukulele Set. Let’s talk about whether this bundle deal is worth the money.

Build

Enya Kutma is a tenor ukulele which, a little bit smaller than the baritone but still with a nice, big sound. When it comes to the sound, there is nothing that will determine and influence the final results as the build and tonewood. That is pretty much why the choice of a solid mahogany top with African mahogany back and sides is a standard but well tested with time. For a beginner, comfort is one of the biggest priorities so having a nice, slim neck with an ebony fingerboard that is easy to slide and down on, is a big advantage of this uke. All in all, the Kutma tenor is a well crafted, and has durable tonewood that only gets more nuanced and balanced with time.

Hardware

Now that we have gone over the build of this uke, let’s talk a little bit about the hardware. As you might expect, the hardware with under $70 bundle deals is not going to be stellar. BUT, that being said, what you get in terms of hardware is well worth the money and more. The bridge is Indian rosewood which is one of better materials for this bridge (on a ukulele in this price range).

The nut and saddle are made from Ox-bone which tries to recreate the sound of the real bone, something that people love so much. Of course, the Ox-bone is not as great, it does a decent job, although I would not say it is very durable. The die-cast tuners seem to keep the strings in tune. Tuning issues are one of the biggest and the most widespread problems with affordable ukuleles and while you still will have to tune in the breaking-in period, compared to other ukes it will not have to be that often.

The one thing that is pretty big and small at the same time is the strings. While strings are such an inexpensive part of instruments they play a vital role in delivering the best sound of the instrument. Unfortunately, the strings on this uke do not really deliver on the promise and make the instrument sound small with not the best intonation. This, of course, is easily fixable by just changing them.

This is a ukulele set so you also get a cotton gig bag, tuner, strap, and extra set of strings. As I have mentioned the strings are not that good so that is not the best part of the bundle. The tuner works fairly well and the gig bag does a basic job of protecting your ukulele.

Enya Ukulele Sound

Every little detail and I mean every, including solid mahogany top to matte finish, play a part in the sound of the ukulele. And fortunately, the build of this instrument yield a rich and crisp tone and big sound that concert ukuleles are so great and famed for. While you will have to change the strings to achieve a better tone and sound, that is not such a big hassle.

Conclusion

Whether you are a beginner looking to get yourself into ukuleles or trying to find a nice gift for your friend or kid, bundles are always a good idea. Enya KUTMA Tenor Mahogany Ukulele Set is one of the best bargain deals in its price range. The rich tone and durability are just perfect for someone who is determined to develop their skills. That is exactly the reason why this uke is not only one of the best tenor ukuleles in its price range but also the best among the bundle deals.
