Kremona Artist Series Romida Nylon String Guitar

Pros:

  • Great quality tonewood
  • Amazing sound
  • Great looks

Cons:

  • Price is a bit high (for beginners)
  • Volume is not that high

In my experience, the decision of whether or not to buy a guitar grows exponentially with every $100. So whenever a model is over $1000 I always take a months or two (or ten, in some cases) before I make the final decision to buy or pass on a model. That being said, some models are so amazing that the moment you look at it or hear it you know it is love at first sight (hearing). Kremona Artist Series Romida Nylon String Guitar is very VERY close to being a love at first sight. So let’s discuss why.

Build

Okay, let’s talk about the elephant in the room… this is a GORGEOUS-looking guitar. It is actually so good looking I have a hard time trying to talk about anything other than that. Alas, we have to talk a bit about how this mesmerizing piece of the instrument came together. First of all, the top on the Kremona Romida guitar is made of solid German spruce while the back and sides are made of rosewood. This is some top-notch quality material that not only will last years and years but will also get significantly better. The Spanish cedar neck is comfortable enough for even beginners, although it is a more intermediate to professional level guitar (I mean… just look at the price if specifications are not enough).

Hardware

Kremona did not stop at great construction and choice of tonewood, they have gone out of their way to deliver the highest quality EVERYTHING. The nut and saddle are made of bone (as expected of the highest quality model). The bone nut adds to the crispness of the sound while also being durable like hell. The finish is one of the things that, surprisingly, a lot of manufacturers still have not “mastered”. And by master I mean make it thin and durable enough so that it does not stop the guitar from vibrating and delivering the best sound that the model can deliver. Fortunately, Kremona has taken care of that detail as well and used ultra-thin gloss finish that lets the guitar breathe and vibrate freely.

Kremona Guitar Sound

It is hard to come by a guitar that is close to perfect in construction and sound BUT Kremona Artist Series Romida Nylon String Guitar comes very close to that perfection. The high-quality tonewood and construction pay off when you listen or play this guitar. The full, mellow sound and well-balanced tone are just a few things that you can say about this model. In the hands of a good musician, this model can deliver masterpiece after masterpiece.

Conclusion

Kremona is a private Bulgarian company that has been operating since 1924 and only has around 100 employees. It is not the biggest manufacturer, as you can see, but the smaller companies tend to pay more attention to details and make their models more unique. The Romida Nylon String Guitar is definitely one of the best examples of how small companies can create, through years of experience and small-scale production, some of the best and most beautiful looking models on the market. I would definitely recommend this model to ANY intermediate and professional player. While comfortable enough even for beginners, I think the price of this model does not warrant for a complete novice to pick it up (well, unless you have a trust fund and can pay thousands for a guitar you might use only for a month and then lose interest).
