Lohanu Concert Size Ukulele Bundle From (LU-C)

Pros:

  • Bargain price
  • Full, rich sound
  • Comfortable

Cons:

  • Not the best tuner
  • Thin gig bag

While most ukuleles are not as expensive as other instruments like guitars, bass and so on, buying an uku, tuner, metronome, straps, gig bag/case and so on might amount to quite a substantial cost. ENTER ukulele bundles that offer the instrument along with accessories so that you do not have to spend time researching more into that and also because they usually cost less when sold together. While there are quite a few bundles that just have “bundle” as the main selling point, the Lohanu Concert Size Ukulele Bundle is so much more than that.

Build

While the Lohanu Concert Size Ukulele Bundle is a great offer in its entirety, it would not be so unless the actual ukulele was good. This concert size ukulele has sapele/mahogany combination on the top, back, and sides. The extremely comfortable neck has a Rosewood fingerboard with handy dot inlays. One thing that probably makes this guitar sound so much better than anything else in its price range is the arched back. The laminated wood has a natural finish that only makes this guitar more authentic and beautiful looking. While the tonewood might be laminated and not the top-notch, most highly-priced thing in the world (after all, this is a beginner, “affordable” guitar) I cannot say anything bad about the overall construction. It is sturdy, and comfortable and only creates better and richer tone.

Hardware

Now let’s talk a bit about the hardware that this uku comes with. As you might have figured out, guitars as this cost will mostly have cheap to affordable hardware. While some barely make a cut, the hardware on this model is actually very decent. The standard, durable headstock comes with four die-cast chrome tuners that pretty much guarantee that your guitar will stay in tune for a while. Probably the best accessory that comes with this model is the strings. The Aquila Strings that ship with this model is pretty much some of the best ones.

My first strings were also Aquila so I might be a bit prejudiced but thousands of other people’s reviews also pretty much guarantee that you will love them. Now let’s talk a bit about the bundle side of the affair. This uke comes with a strap, tuner, 2 picks, and pick holder. Apart from that, the strap buttons are already installed which is a big, BIG bonus if you do not want to spend more money on having it professionally installed in a shop. Now, for me, the biggest part of the bundle is always the gig bag or the case.

In this bundle, you get an okay gig bag that will do the basic job but I think it is a bit too thin for actual protection. The other issue that has come up is the tuner, a lot of people have said that the tuner either does not work or is out of battery right out the box. While that is a problem for some people, it is fairly minor.

Lohanu LU-C Sound

For a ukulele bundle that often sells for under $90 (mostly it is around $130-160), this uku is BEYOND what you would expect. The sweet, full sound of a bigger uku is very obvious from the first moment you start playing. It stays in tune very well and after the break-in period, this baby gets better and better. It is also very comfortable with frets spaced a bit further and there is not buzzing. While this might not be the sound of a $300 and up ukulele, it definitely brings a lot more to the table than most guitars in its price range.

Conclusion

Concert ukuleles are sort of a golden medium between soprano and tenor ukes. There are big enough to create volume and sound while not being too bulky. The Lohan Concert Size Ukulele is probably in most of the lists of the Best Ukulele for Beginners (it definitely is in ours) for a good reason. Apart from a good construction, you get full sound and comfort that are unmatched among beginner guitars.

  1. My uke bundle was missing a tuner. Lohanu refused to send me one. Condescending emails pretending concern but did not have the Lohanu turner to send (odd). Useless customer service. Fake concern. NO original tuners to replace one that was not in my bundle. The lack of stock tuners was probably the reason my bundle came without one. Terrible unprofessional company.
