This unit will intrigue you from the first glance, then use its magic to lure you into its realm. Once it does, there is no turning back. You are stuck there for the years to come.

It might be a favorite of your bandmate, your best friend, or just a model in a local music store. Either way, it will force you to start searching for the perfect version for yourself and purchase it immediately. Such superpowers might be surprising for some, but trust me, they do have such forces.

In order to go through that process with as little pain as possible, you have to know what are the pros and cons of each unit and what they have to offer. To assist you on your way to the perfect EQ, I will introduce to you Biyang EQ-7. This bad boy falls into affordable, but it still manages to work like a charm. If you want to read thorough information about this particular pedal, then stay with me and pay close attention. Let’s get started!

Features

As is the case with numerous equalizer pedals, Biyang EQ-7 is not steeped with ample features or bells and whistles. It is a straight-to-the-point unit that does what it is supposed to without any fuss or complication. This bad boy is part of the brand’s Tonefancier series, which means it has to affect your sound in the best way possible. It is quite inexpensive, without any components being cheap or of poor quality. The metal enclosure will not break easily and the insides will stay put for quite a long time. Speaking of which, it utilizes top notch chipsets and WIMA capacitance. This way you are left with amazing sonic qualities and capabilities. In terms of design, this pedal will not exactly blow your mind, but it still looks pretty sleek and feels really robust. Biyang EQ-7 has typical size, measuring only 127mm (D) × 95mm (W) × 63mm (H) and weighing 470 grams. More importantly, it has 7 frequency bands ranging from 100 to 6.4K. This way you can easily craft various properties according to your preferences. This fella can be powered with an adapter or a 9V battery. Keep in mind that the former is not included in the package, so you would have to purchase it separately. But this must not be a problem for any of you, since I am sure you have these standard adapters lying around anyway. As you can see, Biyang EQ-7 is concentrated on equalizing your tone and making this process really convenient for everyone.

Controls

I do not think that we have mentioned this before, so I will tell you now. Biyang EQ-7 is a graphic equalizer, meaning that it utilizes slides that modify seven different frequency ranges. Each of them has dedicated assignment and can boost or cut your signal with up to ±15dB. This gives you full control over your tone, since you can literally see each band and, thus, have the ability to make detailed modifications. Though many consider such layout outdated, for me, it still works just fine. I guess it is all about the preferences of individual players. I do not want you to have any unresolved questions, so let’s dig deep into the control section of Biyang EQ-7.

The layout features seven different vertical bands with sliders. Each of them is assigned with specific frequency range, namely 100, 200, 400, 800, 1.6K, 3.2K and 6.4K. They can move up and down and modify your tone accordingly. Moving a specific frequency slider in the upward direction will boost your sound with different levels, doing the same thing in the downward position will cut the desired range. Then we have one more slider that is dedicated to the Level modification. It allows you to change the volume of the pedal and keep it just as loud or quiet as your heart desires. In order to achieve a perfect sonic outcome, you will have to mess around with these couple bands and that’s it. Just be careful and take smaller steps so that you do not overuse the effect and destroy your sound instead of amplifying its qualities.

Biyang EQ-7 Sound

Some of you might be doubtful about the sonic quality of Biyang EQ-7 due to its low price, but trust me, you do not have anything to worry about. This little fella makes audible modifications to your signal even with slight adjustments. It does not affect the original essence of your sound and keeps it intact at all times. This means that it impacts the constituents of your tone from within and simply attenuates or exaggerates the needed frequencies. It can give you countless possibilities since each setting has a different outcome. Yeah, it does not have fancy built-in effects or anything like that but it is still versatile in terms of options. No matter what settings you choose, this pedal will not get muddy or indistinct. Biyang EQ-7 can improve your sound a great deal, you just have to know how to set everything in order to accommodate your tone. Take your time, pay attention to each modification and you will nail this fella with ease.

Conclusion

On the whole, Biyang EQ-7 is a typical graphic equalizer that has one job to do, but it succeeds at that a great deal. It has great build quality that is topped with overall simplicity and sonic capabilities. It is an amazing option if you are on a budget and are craving a decent EQ in your rig. It will be easy to use even for beginners, since the layout is rather simple to grasp. Take a risk and you will be satisfied. Good luck!

  1. I have the EQ-7 in the box section with knobs instead of sliders. Yes the unit is well made. The results however are disappointing and very little change is heard from the adjustments. I have used phono outputs from my Sony tv and 9 volt dry battery. I has hoped to adjust the audio output to be clearer for my hearing problems. Any output from the unit is not as clear as the ordinary headphone amplifier that uts the speaker output when in use. I have 2 units and both give the same results.
