Sometimes I feel like glam metal has been forgotten and expelled out of the minds of the general population. Then I remember that I tend to dramatize things more often than I should. So I sit down and start doing research about glam rocks. I end up finding gems that make me smile and hopeful for the future of the genre, but what excites me most is when I find an instrument, like this one. Let us take a look at the Dean RZR7 255 MWHCBK Razorback 7 255 and see what is so exciting about it.

Body Quality

The design of this guitar demands attention and screams in your face. It’s like putting up a neon billboard in the middle of a dark street. The guitar will attract attention whether you want it to or not. The influences of glam rock are easy to see here. The spiky, recognizable design that is the razorback is not only eye-catching but rather enjoyable too. The while coloring of the body with a black streak for the binding of the guitar makes it look even more stand loutish. Overall this is a fun-looking guitar that is a lot of fun to play.

The body of the guitar is built out of mahogany. This allows the guitar to be a lot of things without ever fearing of it being damaged or going bad. The sturdiness of the mahogany will keep the wings and edges of the guitar denting or breaking. The scratching of the guitar is also implausible. The mahogany provides a good low tone basis for the guitar, warming and deepening the overall sound of the guitar. The only possible drawback of the instrument is that the guitar is a little heavy because of the use of mahogany.

The neck of the guitar is made of mahogany as well. This allows the neck of the guitar to be resistant to the warping and breaking that might be induced by the extra string. The mahogany of the neck further weighs down the instrument. The guitar is set into the body, which provides further sturdiness. The fretboard of the guitar is made of rosewood.

The guitar comes with a nice, set bridge and a tremolo bar. The bridge provides the instrument with some nice action and string stability and a tremolo bar is always exciting to see.

The nut of the guitar is made of black tusq. This allows the guitar to have a clean, clear sound unblemished by string buzz and with some great harmony.

The tuning of the machine of the guitar is more or less decent, without issues to report, at least ones that I have noticed. The tuning stability is great and the design of the headstock is lovely.

The guitar comes with a double humbucker setup, with one located at the neck and one at the bridge. Though the distance between the two is rather limited, his affects the sound a little more. The humbuckers are the EMG 707s, which provide a great tone and some awesome sustain and output power. The long-life on these also gives you confidence in the guitar.

The controls of the guitar are more detailed than you’d think. You get three knobs, one for the overall volume of the guitar and two for the tones of individual humbuckers.

Dean Razorback 7 String Sound

The guitar sounds awesome. That is the gist of it. If you want more details, here you go: The output is very powerful and will make heads turn from the very first note played. The sustain is heavy and lovely, making the guitar perfect for metal and rock and roll. The control system allows the player control of the sound and a better sound flexibility. There you go.

Overall this is an awesome guitar. Whether you are looking for a glam metal guitar or a hard rock guitar, you can have it in here. The look, the sound and everything is lovely.
