Fender American Deluxe Dimension Bass IV

  • Lovely Sound
  • Detailed Controls
  • Great Lifespan

  • Uninspired Design

To make a great guitar one does not need to spend hundreds of dollars acquiring materials for it. One does need to spend days and sometimes weeks manufacturing the guitar, honing it into the perfect instrument. Which is why some of the best guitars in the world cost as much as they do. Thankfully, some other of the best guitars in the world don’t cost as much. Let us take a look at the Fender American Deluxe Dimension Bass IV and see if it is one of them.

Body Quality

The design of the guitar is not the most inspiring part of it, though it is not the worst part of it either. The design is a little on the uninspired side, with a double-cutaway shape resulting in two, short and rather stubby-looking wings. The body of the guitar is large, with a rounded bottom. The resulting look is not remarkable in too many ways, but it is an acceptable look that feels familiar and rather alright. Overall it is a design that, while not standing out, does a great job of looking good and feeling fun.

The body of the bass guitar is made out of ash, which is the preferred choice for high-end bass guitars. Ash is a great material that provides the guitar with a whole lot of positive qualities that most players will definitely enjoy. The primary quality that attracts guitar buyers to this material is the hardwood’s incredible resonance with mid tones, while also having a well-rounded bottom end of the tones. The lightweight of the ash also makes it the perfect tonewood for long term, comfortable playing.

The neck of the guitar is made out of maple, a primary choice among guitar manufacturers. Maple is known to be rather sturdy, making it highly warp-resistant, as well as resistant to denting, breaking or other types of damage. This makes the guitar able to last a long time after buying, without any type of neck stability issues. The set through the body neck design makes the guitar highly stable and sturdy. The fretboard of the guitar is made out of rosewood.

The guitar comes equipped with a Fender Hi-Mass bridge. This provides the guitar with a high level of string stability and some great action.

The nut of the guitar is made out of high-quality synthetic material. This provides the guitar with a clean sound with great harmony and action.

The tuning machine of the guitar is made to be in high quality. The tuning stability of the guitar is rather exceptional so you will never have tuning issues.

The guitar comes equipped with a single pickup, located at the bridge of the guitar. The Dimension humbucker is specifically designed to produce a powerful sound. Which it does, regardless of the fact that it is the only humbucker present on the guitar. The guitar is capable of picking up nuanced sound, with the tonal range of the guitar being impressive. The pickup is rather impressive in terms of lifespan, so that it will last you a while after purchasing the guitar.

The controls on the instrument are rather detailed. With a Master Volume knob and Three-Band Active EQ with Treble Boost/Cut, Bass Boost/Cut, and Mid Boost/Cut knobs.

Fender Dimension Bass Sound

The sound of the guitar is rather lovely, and the most impressive part of it. The sound is highly detailed, with some impressive low tones and interesting mid tones. The guitar has some high output, with the pickup providing all of the detail, nuance and power the instrument will ever need.

Overall, the instrument is incredible. It provides the player with a whole load of great things, for a fitting price. While the design could be a little better, in my opinion, the guitar is rather lovely and comes highly recommended, if you have the money for it.
