The beauty of rock and roll lies not only in the fact that it is a beautiful genre which has produced some of the greatest music to have ever graced the ears of listeners. Its merit also lies within being the reason for the creation of some of the most interesting instruments, in terms of looks and sound, to have been held by musicians. Let us take a look at one of the more interesting, one of my personal favorites, instrument and see what makes it so loved by people like me.
Straight off we are going start out praising the beautiful design of the Godin 5th Avenue CW Electric Guitar. The body of the guitar is beautifully shaped, with the archtop looking rather sweet on the eye. The single cutaway neck looks full and very pleasing, having a daring but also traditional design. The guitar is available in several color schemes, with the dark brown solid color giving it possibly the classiest of all designs. Though my personal favorite is the sunburst model, revealing the grain underneath the paint. This one looks rustic and lovely at the same time.
The body of the guitar is built out of a rather unorthodox material. The canadian cherry top and the back and sides are not seen too often in the guitar industry, through the tonewood has a beautiful grain and is known to have another rather fun qualities. The tonewood resonates incredibly well with the mid and high tones of a guitar, producing a bright, powerful sound with some excellent sustain potential. The cherry is also rather light. It is not too soft, neither is it too durable, so watch out, just in case, for damage.
The neck of the guitar is made out of silver leaf maple. This is just a fancy way of saying it is made of maple, which is actually a rather traditional and great choice. The mapel is sturdy and warp resistant, meaning the guitar will live for a whole lot of time. The neck is set through the body of the guitar and the fretboard of the instrument is made out of rosewood. Great construction overall.
The guitar comes with a graphtech tusq bridge in the trapeze style. This allows the guitar very stable strings, as well as some good action. It is an unimpeded design choice that works well with the rest of the guitar’s look.
The nut of the guitar is made out of tusq. This high quality synthetic material does a great job at avoiding any kind of string noise and providing a good harmony. The action is a little high at the nut, but nothing to worry about too much, especially if you know someone who can easily fix it.
The tuning machine of the guitar is rather good looking and does its job rather well. Which means you have great tuning stability to go along with your lovely guitar.
The guitar comes with two single coil pickups, one at the neck one at the bridge of the instrument. The single coil pickup combination is rather lovely in this case. The Kingpin P90 Single coils have a rather clean, clear sound with a very expressive tonal range that seems unstoppable when you are playing it. The two single coils have great output, with a great flexibility in sound. Overall, a great combo.
The guitar has rather simple controls, with one knob for master volume one for master tone and a three way pickup selector. Fun times.
Godin 5th Avenue Sound
The guitar has a lovely, almost exceptional sound. The range of the tones available for the instrument seems to be infinite, with each and every tone being expressive and highly nuanced. The clean, clear sound of the guitar is rather bright and high energy, perfect for playing pop rock, blues and rock and roll.
This is one of my favorite guitars for a reason. It is of amazing design and sound, with a price to match. Highly recommended to anyone and everyone.
