Pros:

  • Good Sound
  • Affordable
  • Great Design

Cons:

  • Sound isn’t flexible

You’ll hear me say this quite a lot but I just can’t help myself. There are guitars out there that speak to you the moment you look at them, and there are those that are mute. Even though they are capable of producing sound, they can’t utter any words to touch your soul and attract your fullest attention. Such guitars end up being mere instruments that are decent – there’s nothing extraordinary about them.

“Plain Jane” guitars aren’t bad at all: they perform just fine. But there are times in our lives when we want something special, something that quenches the thirst of the eye, makes our heart beat faster from excitement and takes us to the world of the subconscious. It forces us to wake up, get creative and produce something impeccable. That’s what Luna Fauna Phoenix is to me. Its exquisite design does please the eye, yet that’s not everything it can do. It has a superpower i.e. it can transfer the energy of the mystical beast to you. Once you hold it and start playing, you forget that there are any limitations on your way. It awakens the almighty power hidden inside you and lets your music flourish with the most beautiful colors. I might be exaggerating just a tiny bit, but trust me, you’ll have similar feelings once you get your hands on Luna Fauna Phoenix. Let’s get down to business and find out what features it has to offer.

Build Quality

Guitars such as Luna Fauna Phoenix make it so hard to say that looks aren’t everything. I do strongly believe in that statement, yet I can’t help being mesmerized by its design. I think that’s impossible – just take a look at it and you’ll see what I’m talking about. We don’t see such exquisite pieces too often and when we do, I don’t see any harm in appraising their beauty. Let me show you what’s so special about it: black body showcases abalone Phoenix piece that empowers you from the very first glance; as its extension, you’ll see abalone crescent rosette which accompanies this powerful creature; the fretboard has abalone inlays that are shaped as different moon phases. I can’t iterate enough how magical this design is. And even though I’m not a huge believer in anything supernatural, this fella definitely has a lot of connection with nature (maybe it draws its power from it, who knows).

Moving on to important qualities, Luna Fauna Phoenix has a select spruce top and mahogany back and sides (a combination we see so frequently). It’s grand concert size with a cutaway, which makes all the frets accessible to your fingers. The set-in neck is made from mahogany, while the fretboard is built with Pau Ferro. The former has a c-shape and happens to be quite thin, which means you’ll have no trouble reaching the desired strings. Both the body and the neck are extremely comfortable to hold and play and add up to the virtues of this guitar. As you can see, there’s more to Phoenix than the design, yet it complements the rest in a unique way.

Hardware

Specifications can be boring for some, but they provide us with essential information. If it weren’t for them, we’d know nothing about the instrument we want to commit to and that, my friend, would be a huge mistake. Though we’ve already discussed many features offered by Luna Fauna Phoenix, we still haven’t painted a full picture. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do below.

To support the strings and make sure the vibrations flow just as they should, the brand has decided to include Pau Ferro bridge. They’ve also equipped the guitar with Graph Tech NuBone nut, which measures 43 mm (1 11/16 inches). Just in case you don’t know what those numbers mean, let me tell you that the nut gives you access to the strings. There’s enough spacing between them to hold down individual strings with ease and avoid pressing something you didn’t want to touch (a vital thing for beginners, in my opinion). The brand has also included die-cast tuners that rotate smoothly while holding the tune decently. Since this is an acoustic-electric guitar, it also has a piezo pickup and Fishman Presys II preamp with a tuner. The tuner works fine, but if I’m being honest, it could have been better.

Luna Phoenix Sound

Could such a powerful guitar sound flat? I don’t think so. Luna Fauna Phoenix has a very beautiful tone. Even though the bottom-end isn’t as rich as one would have expected, the rest of the sonic spectrum is so mesmerizing that we can turn a blind eye to that flaw. The included electronics are quite good, as they give off an expressive tone and add even more definition to the overall character. As mentioned, this guitar is saturated with phoenix power and will come in handy for any player regardless of their professional level. It was built with folk music in mind, but I think it’s capable of way more than that. Since its sound is inspiring, you could easily create beautiful pieces with it. If you have a smaller body or you’re just starting out, you might want to reconsider purchasing this one, because it might be a bit hard to play. Overall, Fauna Phoenix is a wonderful piece in terms of sound as well.

Conclusion

All in all, Luna Fauna Phoenix is one of the best acoustic guitars in its price range. It combines a distinctive appearance with powerful performance and provides us with a lot of range. You can experiment with different techniques and genres until you find the one that speaks to your soul the most. It will make your collection stand out quite a bit and will impress anyone who looks its way. If you want to purchase something distinctive, then this is the one you should check out. Good luck on your journey!
