Luna Safari Series Muse Mahogany 3-4-Size Travel

Pros:

  • Compact
  • Comfortable
  • Affordable

Cons:

  • Volume is not that great
  • Needs a change of strings

It is a tiring endeavour to find a good guitar if you are new to the game and do not know much about guitars. It is twice as hard if your are on a strict budget. But finding an affordable, good quality model that is also comfortable and easy to play… well, that is definitely a hard one. Fortunately, a lot of manufacturers have understood that there is a rather big market to tap into and now anyone remotely interested in playing a guitar can get an instrument for hundred or two hundred dollars. The unfortunate thing is that a lot of the “affordable” are more cheap than affordable and finding a good deal without ending up with a poor sounding guitar is a little bit hard. Thankfully, Luna Guitars have dedicated quite some time to developing models that combine good price and good quality and Luna Safari Series Muse Mahogany 3/4-Size Travel guitar is one of them.

Build Quality

This travel guitar, as you might have guessed from the name, is smaller sized dreadnought model that is great for beginners, who are not as comfortable with big models, kids, or someone with smaller hands.  The top as well as the back and sizes are Mahogany which is a great tonewood that holds the tone and lasts for a while. The neck is C shaped and made from Mahogany as well. The size of the neck is small enough to comfortably play with but at the same time it does not limit your experience.

Hardware

Luna Guitars has equipped this model with Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The nut and saddle are Graph Tech BC6115 while the tuning machines are sealed die-cast. To top it all off the finish is Satin natura that enhances the look of this model. I think for the price of this model Luna Guitars has equipped it with the basic tools that you would need and nothing more.

Luna Safari Muse Sound

Smaller sized models tend to have smaller sound because of two reasons:

  1. Smaller guitars just physically cannot create the same sound as full sized models
  2. In a lot of cases (not all) travel models cost less thus are made from materials that do not help the sound as much.

You should probably not expect a ¾ beginner/traveller model to have the same tone and volume as a full sized dreadnought BUT I would say that Luna Guitars with their Series Muse Mahogany 3/4-Size Travel does the best job with combining good quality construction, nice sound and great price.

Conclusion

¾ sized guitars are usually very far from the quality in sound that the full sized dreadnought provides, that is pretty much a fact. BUT if you are looking for a compact, great looking guitar that will ease your first steps of learning how to play or be a companion for you when you travel then Luna Safari Series Muse Mahogany 3/4-Size Travel is a great option for you.
