There are many guitars out there with the ambition that they are the best and the standard and that they set the bar for all others. Not all of them are right, and most of them are just plain wrong. Though some guitars do have the right to be referred to as exemplary instruments. These guitars that show what it means to be built right. Anyway, let us take a look at such an instrument and see if it actually has the right to be named as it is Prestige Guitars NYS Standard.
Body Quality
The design of the instrument takes after the many beautiful examples already existing in the world of musical instruments. The single-cutaway of the hollow body guitar is rather handsome to look at, while the full body gives it a powerful, demanding look. The guitar’s archtop is rather lovely and very appealing to the eye. The guitar comes in several coloring options, two of which are full-body single colors and one is a sunburst design. Personally I prefer the silvery/bluish full body coloring.
The body of the guitar, the top and the back and sides included, are made out of high-quality maple. This allows the instrument a slew of qualities that will be highly appreciated by all musicians. First of all, the maple top of the guitar does a great job of resonating with high tones and mid-tones. This allows highly detailed, lovely tremble tones and interesting midtones, with all of the brightness a musician would want. The low tones of the guitar might not have as much detail or resonance, but they are in no way neglected.
The neck of the guitar is made out of mahogany, which is an interesting reversal for the roles of these two tone woods. Yet this reversal is no less beneficial than the traditional arrangement would be in any guitar. The mahogany is extremely sturdy and warp resistant, which means a long life for the guitar. The neck of the guitar is set through the body of the guitar, which adds stability and sturdiness. The fretboard of the guitar is made out of bound rosewood.
Hardware
The guitar comes with a tune o matic designed bridge and a stop bar. This provides the instrument with some extremely nice action and great string stability. The design works well with the body design of the guitar as well.
The nut of the guitar is made out of Tusq, a high-quality synthetic material. This allows the guitar some great harmony and mitigates most of the string hum and buzz.
The tuning machine of the guitar is designed so that it looks amazing in combination with the body of the guitar. The tuning stability of the guitar is rather impeccable.
Electronics
The guitar comes with a setup of two pickups, one at the neck and one at the bridge. The two Seymour Duncan SP90 humbuckers are rather exceptional in how they do their job. The two humbuckers have a very interesting, detailed sound that just feels right when you hear it. The humbuckers have a bit of a low tone bias, but this only serves to balance the sound. The output is strong and the sound is powerful.
The guitar comes with a detailed set of controls, with two knobs for individual humbuckers volume and two individual tone knobs.
Prestige NYS Standard Sound
The sound of the guitar is rather lovely, screaming rock and roll all the way. The guitar is an instrument designed for the fun and liveliness of rock and roll. The humbuckers balance the brightness of the maple with a low, warm sound. The powerful output allows the player to take over the minds and hearts of the people. The sound of the guitar is rather versatile, working well with jazz and rock and roll alike.
